I thought I could know you well
My sea of toils, sea of pleasures, sea of dreams
Since a child with wet feet running from your wash ashore
Then swimming in your relentless surf
Paddling along your ragged coasts
Diving in your beckoning depths
Sailing far and wide to your endless ends
All one wide world ocean
Water water everywhere alive and deeply deep in me
Life in every drop and in every life with drops of you
I gaze into the far ocean horizon
And into glassy calms, sullen swells and dark abyss
You stare back as an immense eye
Into my shallow existence, a mere human afloat
Made deeper by knowing some of you
If only in drops and waves, so many over time
Yet never all
Until one day I give myself to you….
